Goose Hunting Seasons are established in early Spring and allocated through a lottery drawing system. The season length depends on the weather and migration, spanning anywhere between one week to one month.

Mourning Doves flourish in South Dakota during the spring and summer breeding season. For dove hunters, the prime hunting times are the early morning hours and dusk, as these birds traverse between grain fields and water sources for feeding.
