Inspiring the
Future Outdoorsman

A man wearing a beanie and glasses receiving a comforting hug from a woman.

Steve McKee will forever be remembered as a loving father, avid sportsman, and dear friend. Since 2015, Swan Lake has offered father and youth hunts in his honor.

Whether you're a parent introducing your child to the thrill of the hunt or a young hunter eager to embark on your own adventure, Swan Lake is a great place to explore the exciting realm of hunting in South Dakota.

The Importance of Youth Hunting:

  • Multiple ducklings swimming in dark water, with two in the foreground and blurred ducks in the background.

    Respect.

Respect for the wild teaches young hunters the importance of preserving natural habitats.

  • Person holding a scoped rifle outdoors, with the focus on their hands and the firearm.

    Responsibility.

Experienced guides offer opportunities to introduce young hunters to the sport safely and responsibly.

  • Silhouettes of two people, one with a golf bag and the other with a snowboard, walking on a grassy field during sunset with cloudy sky.

    Connection.

Create a bonding experience that fosters a lifelong love for the outdoors.

Remembering Steve McKee.

Steve McKee will be remembered as a loving father, whose embrace with his son–and his son’s opponent–after a state title bout drew the eyes of the entire nation. It was in March when the 51-year-old father–battling cancer that was supposed to have stolen his life from him at that point–watched his son, St. Michael-Albertville's Mitchell McKee, win the state high school wrestling championship.
